Berwick for a Lifetime shared the good news that two community volunteers--Stina Brazelton (stbraz@gmail.com )  and Roz Edelberg (Imrozzy@yahoo.com) have taken the roles of co-chair for Berwick for a Lifetime. Sharon Kelly will remain a member of the team but is excited to see new energy taking the reins. 

Age-Friendly Community Initiative (AFCI) in the Bethel Area hosts an annual intergenerational opportunity--the Fall Work Day. AFCI, Telstar High School, and NorthStar 4H Youth Mentoring are partnering to help older residents who need leaf raking, firewood stacking, or other small jobs. This year's workdays are scheduled for October 19 and 20. These pictures highlight the fun that people had during last year's work days.

Age-Friendly Coastal Communities, with support from Maine Health Access Foundation, launched their Bridging Neighbors program to connect residents to the resources they need. 

Age and Ability Friendly Bucksport announced the start of their Home Safety and Accessibility Repair Program, a partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Age-Friendly Caribou joined with the Caribou Community Garden for a day of family fun. In addition to sharing information about their dementia inclusive projects, the committee hosted a mindfulness walk, games, and a story walk. Fun was had by all--despite the windy fall weather. 

Age-Friendly Chelsea has some talented cooks and folks who love to host a party, the perfect combination to welcome residents for a montly shared meal. Every other month, they are sharing a rack card based on one of the chapters in Pathways to Living Well with Dementia. The team is continuing the Reading Connection program this year. One of the guest readers will be Lifelong Fellow Donna Palmer!

Hallowell All Age-Friendly published the fall edition of their Hallowell Champion! We especially enjoyed reading about the team's work with the Hallowell Area Board of Trade to become more inclusive of people living with dementia. 

The Grateful Undead were the happy recipients of a grant from the Southern Maine Agency on Aging to implement programming. With the funds, the team started Monday Coffee for friends and neighbors to share coffee, conversation, games, and even an informal jam session! It's a great way to start the week for the 25 people who attend regularly. The team also started a new elevated bed community garden and have delivered a few to residents who are not able to get to the community garden. Finally, they added a few portable ramps that can be loaned out through their Handy Helpers program. It's been a busy summer in the Sacoppee Valley!

Age-Friendly Limestone prepared 70 meals to distribute to community members through their Purple Ladle program. Thanks to the generous donations of local farmers, the cost was only $1 meal!

Living Well in Madison partnered with KV-CAP to pilot a 3-month program to transport residents of congregate housing to their local grocery store once/month. Seven riders enjoyed the first trip! We are looking forward to hearing more updates!

Building Livability in New Gloucester is thrilled to share the good news that nearly 50 residents have signed the PACE car pledge to: "drive the posted speed limit, share the road with pedestrians and walkers; stop to let pedestrians cross the street; and not to use the phone or text while driving". The team is also partnering with the Red Cross to promote free installation of smoke alarms and have launched a Community Engagement series with a talk by the Casco Bay Trail Alliance. BLING doesn't let any grass grow under their feet!

Age-Friendly Saco is working with Old Orchard Beach Community Friendly Connection and Age-Friendly Biddeford to expand their volunteer transportation program to cover the tri-town area. Age-Friendly Biddeford already trained four volunteer drivers and recruited a coordinator! Three volunteers have stepped up to volunteer in Old Orchard Beach so it won't be long until that the Age-Friendly team will be able to offer medical rides to their residents, 

Age-Friendly South Portland hosted an Age-Friendly Resource Fair on September 22. More than 200 attendees had the opportunity to meet with 45 vendors! The event was covered by Channel 8 TV and their community access station. 

Age-Friendly Sullivan partnered with the Area Agency on Aging to sponsor a flu clinic in their community. More than 100 people took advantage of the opportunity. That is pretty impressive for a community of 1200!
