A few Quick Action ideas to customize for your community
Develop and distribute a resource magnet (or list) with information about food programs--from grocery stores that deliver to food pantry and farmer's market hours. By making the resource list as inclusive as possible (without being overwhelming), people can determine where they fit into the services, programs, and activities in your community.
Post flyers about SNAP benefits and the Senior Farm Share Program, share them on social media
Share educational materials such as My Plate and Healthy Meal Planning to raise awareness.
Balance and malnutrition are closely tied. Provide information about healthy eating to local gyms and activity centers that offer balance classes to older residents. Two frequently offered classes are Bone Builders and Matter of Balance. Both will be delighted to share information with their participants.
