Matter of Balance
Health Care and Wellness Opportunities
Age-Friendly Coastal Communities (Blue Hill Peninsula and Deer Isle): trains volunteers to provide the Matter of Balance class
Jackman Community Health Advisory Team: partnered with Eastern Maine Community College and St. Joseph Hospital to implement a paramedicine program
Age-Friendly Kennebunk: organized a medical equipment loan program that is now housed with their partner, No Place Like Home
Age-Friendly Mount Vernon: hired a social worker to link residents of the five town region to services and started a new adult day/respite program
Age-Friendly Saco Volunteer and Wellness Fair
Connecting Residents to Essential Services
Danforth Livable Communities: provides a resource navigator to connect people to available services and programs
Thriving in Place, Age-Friendly Sanford: hosts an annual health, resource, and volunteer fair that connects residents to information, resources, and a variety of health care services
Yarmouth Aging in Place: partners with the Southern Maine Area Agency on Aging to host a resource specialist available two days a week to meet with older residents and connect them to resources
Age-Friendly Liberty - Lunch and Socialization
Food Security
Age-Friendly Auburn: provides a free monthly lunch and learn for residents
Age-Friendly Deer Isle/Stonington: delivers Healthy Island Project lunchboxes accompanied by pictures drawn by local school children
Age-Friendly Limestone: created the Purple Ladle Program, which delivers home-cooked meals to residents who need a hand
Age-Friendly Berwick: distributes commodity food boxes to older residents
Age-Friendly South Portland: encourages older residents to sign up for the Maine Senior Farm Share program and matches the $50 share so that eligible residents can get more locally grown fresh produce

Economic Security
China for a Lifetime: engaged a retired professional financial planner to provide free advice to older people facing economic challenges
Age-Friendly Georgetown: created a propane and heating oil purchasing group to lower the cost of seasonal heating for residents of all ages
Age-Friendly Saco: hosts an Annual Wellness Fair, with seminars on a different topics and a large vendor fair with all of their community partners; year round, trained volunteers provide Medicare and insurance counseling
Age-Friendly Sullivan: offers free local tax preparation services and provides education to make sure people receive the benefits they are entitled to get

Age-Friendly Bowdoinham: sponsors an annual World Elder Abuse Awareness Event. For one event, the Bowdoinham Age-Friendly players wrote and performed a skit, "Stories from Around the Quilt".
Hallowell All Age-Friendly: partnered with local PD to present a fraud prevention workshop
Living Well in North Yarmouth: implemented a Knox Box (key safe) program for emergency access to older adults' homes
Age-Friendly Scarborough: partners with Community Services and the Police Dept. to offer a monthly Coffee with a Cop. The program provides an opportunity for community members and Scarborough Police officers to come together and discuss issues, ask questions, and learn more about each other
