News from the
Governor's Cabinet on Aging
Elizabeth Gattine, Governor's Office of Policy, Innovation, and the Future
With the winter months upon us, please be aware of this Heating Resource Guide published by the Governor’s Energy Office. I am also providing some housing policy updates and information that may be of interest. Even with unprecedented investments in housing production, the lack of affordable and accessible housing remains a significant challenge across the state and remains a top focus of this administration.
This link contains a summary of recent funding and policy initiatives by the Governor and Legislature that address a broad range of housing issues.
The State recently released a Housing Needs Production Study , which focuses on the relationship between housing production, population, and economic growth at a statewide and regional level. As part of that, an online dashboard is expected to go live early 2024 that will provide a wide range of data at the statewide, regional, and local level for public use.
There is currently a GOPIF Housing Dashboard that shows investments to expand the supply of affordable housing in Maine.
The Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future (GOPIF) released a Report last month studying affordability and design of accessory dwelling units.
MaineHousing has completed the request for proposal process to develop a statewide Home Share Pilot Program , which is on schedule for implementation this coming year.
As we approach year end, thank you for your commitment to improving the lives of older Mainers and building inclusive communities that work for all. The Cabinet looks forward to continued collaboration in 2024!
You will find more information about all these programs (and a lot more!), when you visit the Lifelong Maine website. lifelongmaine.org
